“This Too Shall Pass”…

My Story

Hello! My name is Sylvanne Badeau, and my goal is to create a non-judgmental, safe, and therapeutic environment where you can freely express yourself as we work together to improve your mental well-being. Mental health is a process, and I’m here to support you every step of the way. After retiring from active duty military service, I realized that mental health is as important as physical health. This realization motivated me to pursue a degree in mental health counseling. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Long Island University and my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Touro University.

My approach to therapy is grounded in person-centered, humanistic, and existential theories, which allow me to gain a deeper understanding of my clients. I believe in flexibility, as it helps build and maintain rapport. I often use Socratic dialogue in my sessions to help individuals better understand their cognitive, behavioral, and emotional patterns. This approach fosters insight into their responses and helps identify underlying beliefs. I also incorporate emotion-focused and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) interventions to ensure emotional safety throughout the therapeutic process.
